There’s a reason Mel Tucker isn’t overlooking Saturday’s game against Purdue. Even though Michigan State is the favorite, ranked No. 3 in the nation and entering the contest 8-0, there’s trouble lurking.

Purdue has a history of taking down Top 25 teams as an unranked squad. During his weekly presser, Tucker addressed the media with a list of games the Boilermakers have won against ranked opponents throughout their history.

Per FOX Sports, Purdue has won 16 games against Top 5 opponents as an unranked team. It will have the chance to do so again this weekend in West Lafayette.

Purdue has already notched an impressive win earlier this season. The unranked Boilermakers ended No. 2 Iowa’s perfect season with a 24-7 victory in Kinnick Stadium.

The Boilers are entering Saturday’s game with a 5-3 record, needing just 1 win to clinch a bowl berth. Will it come over another ranked opponent? Or will Purdue have to wait 1 more week while Sparty improves to 9-0?
