Two Purdue defensive linemen have made their decisions regarding the 2021 college football season. One will be returning to West Lafayette while the other has played his final game for the Boilermakers.

Black and Gold Illustrated’s Tom Dienhart reported on Wednesday that defensive tackle Anthony Watts will be returning for the 2021 season. Watts is taking advantage of the NCAA’s blanket waiver for all 2020 fall student-athletes to return to Purdue for one more year.

Over the course of his career, Watts has appeared in 38 games and has made 18 starts. He has piled up 78 tackles with 10.5 stops for loss, 3 sacks and an interception. In 2020, he had 6 tackles in 5 games.

Defensive end Lorenzo Neal has decided to call it a career at Purdue. Dienhart also reported on that news Wednesday.

Neal battled injuries over the last few seasons with the Boilermakers, but was able to finally get back on the field in 2020. He was a fifth-year senior and has opted against a return to West Lafayette.

In his Purdue career, Neal started in 33 games and is credited with 72 stops, 13 tackles for loss and 4 sacks. He was an All-B1G Honorable Mention following the 2018 and 2020 seasons. He missed all of the 2019 campaign with an injury.

Purdue finished the 2020 season with a 2-4 record.
