Pro Boilermakers: Tyler Coyle, Derrick Barnes swap jerseys after Detroit Lions-Dallas Cowboys game
It’s not everyday that former Purdue players get to play against each other in the NFL. Tyler Coyle and Derrick Barnes got to meet up after the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys played each other in Week 7.
The Cowboys beat the Lions 24-6 in Dak Prescott’s return from injury. As is custom now in the NFL, the players did a jersey swap after the game.
Barnes was drafted in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He plays LB for the Lions and has 7 solo tackles this season.
Coyle did not get drafted in 2021 and eventually signed with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent. Coyle has mainly been a special teams player since he entered the league, and has also spent time on Dallas’ practice squad in the past.
Barnes and Coyle appeared in a combined 47 career games in a Boilermakers uniform. It’s good to see their connection remain strong now that both are playing at the professional level.
