Purdue’s defense needs some help in a big way before the 2021 season kicks off. Former Auburn linebacker O.C. Brothers is hoping he cane be of some assistance in West Lafayette.

Thursday night, Brothers announced on Twitter that he has committed to Purdue. He entered the transfer portal last month after spending two seasons with the Tigers.

Brothers was a 3-star member of Auburn’s 2019 recruiting class. The Titusville, Fla., native ranked as the No. 59 outside linebacker and the No. 106 prospect out of his home state. He committed to head coach Gus Malzahn, who was fired following the 2020 season.

Not long after the season ended, Brothers entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal.

Brothers played minimally during his time at Auburn and his credited with three career tackles. But Purdue should be a good fit for the linebacker, as the Boilermakers have lacked depth at that position and struggled defensively overall the past two seasons.

Purdue ended the 2020 season with a 2-4 record.
