Purdue has added an in-state guard to its 2022 recruiting class.

The Boilermakers received a verbal pledge from 3-star point guard Braden Smith, a native of Westfield, Indiana. He becomes the second player of the cycle to commit to Purdue, joining 4-star shooting guard Fletcher Loyer. Both are in-state prospects.

Smith made his announcement with a post on Twitter.

During his junior season at Westfield, Smith averaged an impressive 22 points, 6.2 assists, 5.4 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game. He was recently offered by the Purdue staff.

The 5-foot-10 in-state talent has received a 3-star rating from 247Sports. He ranks as one of the Top 50 point guards in the class, coming in at No. 46 overall. He’s also listed as the No. 11 prospect from Indiana.

Other schools to offer the point guard are Appalachian State, Montana and Toledo.
