Purdue basketball is gearing up for the 2023-24 season, and a major nonconference matchup was added to the schedule Monday.

After previous reports that a game was in the works, Purdue and Arizona officially announced a nonconference matchup to be played in Indianapolis this season. The game will be a part of the Indy Classic played at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

The Boilermakers and Wildcats are set to face off on Dec. 16 though a tip time and TV information will be announced at a later date. Indiana State and Ball State will also face off as a part of the Indy Classic.

The game should be a marquee affair between the two sides with Purdue projected as a top-5 team with the return of National Player of the Year Zach Edey from a season ago. The Wildcats also return some key veterans and have added transfer guard Caleb Love out of UNC.

The two sides have faced off 12 times previously with Purdue holding a 7-5 all-time series lead. The last meeting came in 2017 as a part of the Battle for Atlantis in the Bahamas.
