Changes continue to be made on Purdue’s coaching staff as Jeff Brohm prepares for his fourth year in West Lafayette.

According to a report from the Journal & Courier, defensive line and special teams coach Kevin Wolthausen and defensive line coach Reggie Johnson will not be returning as members of the Boilermakers’ staff in 2020. Those two departures come in addition to defensive coordinator Nick Holt, who was not retained following the 2019 season.

FootballScoop also reported this week that Purdue was hiring Marty Biagi from North Texas to become the next special teams coordinator. The Journal & Courier was also able to confirm that initial report.

Both Wolthausen and Johnson had been on Purdue’s staff for all three seasons under Brohm.

Holt was replaced by Bob Diaco, who will Purdue’s defensive coordinator and will coach linebackers. He comes to West Lafayette after spending last season at Louisiana Tech. He’s also had stops at Oklahoma, Nebraska and Notre Dame in defensive roles. He was also previously the head coach at UConn.

Purdue finished the 2019 season with a 4-8 record and was one of the worst defenses statistically in the B1G. It was the first time in Brohm’s three years in West Lafayette that the Boilers did not appear in a bowl game.
