A Purdue defensive back has made a decision to transfer from the program and enter the NCAA transfer database.

On Thursday, former three-star wide receiver Tyler Hamilton announced via Twitter that he plans to transfer out of Purdue and will pursue opportunities to continue his career elsewhere. He did not mention any potential landing spots at this time.

Below is the message Hamilton tweeted out on Thursday. He’s the first Boilermaker to enter the portal since the season ended.

Hamilton was a three-star member of Purdue’s 2017 recruiting class. A native of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, Hamilton originally came to West Lafayette as a receiver. After not seeing the field at that position, he decided to make a switch to defensive back.

Hamilton didn’t see any game action in Purdue’s secondary, either.

As a recruit, Hamilton was the No. 116 ranked wide receiver and the 11th-best player out of South Carolina. He was also part of Jeff Brohm’s first recruiting class.

Purdue finished the 2019 season with a 4-8 record.
