One Purdue defender who previously spent time in the transfer portal has re-entered over the weekend.

The player is defensive back Geovonte Howard who initially entered the portal in December prior to the season finale against Indiana. That game would eventually be canceled.

Since that time, Howard had withdrawn from the portal and appeared to be staying with the Boilermakers. However, it is now being reported on Saturday morning that Howard has re-entered the portal to examine his options.

Howard did see action during the 2020 season and logged a tackle in games against Iowa, Illinois, Northwestern, and Minnesota. He also logged two passes defended in the win over Iowa.

In the new age of football, it is not unusual to see players hit the transfer portal, and it is not unusual to see players withdraw and decide to stay put. But withdrawing to eventually re-enter is uncommon. It will be interesting to see if Howard moves on this time or stays in West Lafayette.
