Beginning their campaign by squandering a 17-point third quarter lead against the Nevada Wolf Pack in Reno on August 30, the 2019 season has been an up-and-down one for head coach Jeff Brohm and his Purdue Boilermakers.

Entering Saturday’s Rivalry Week showdown against the Indiana Hoosiers at 4-7, Purdue will miss out on a bowl game for the first time in Brohm’s three-year tenure. Despite this, the Boilermakers still have pride – and plenty else – to play for.

Seeking their first three-game win streak over the Hoosiers since they won five straight from 2002-06, Purdue football’s official Twitter account released a hype video for the matchup on Friday.

Feel free to take a look:

Competing for the Old Oaken Bucket since 1925, these two programs have met 121 times dating back to 1891. While the Boilermakers hold a 74-41-6 all-time edge, Tom Allen and Indiana have already won seven games this season – the program’s highest total since 2007.

Set to make his third career start following redshirt freshman Jack Plummer’s season-ending injury against Nebraska on November 2, redshirt sophomore Aidan O’Connell is the third different quarterback to begin a game behind center for Brohm and co-offensive coordinators Brian Brohm (Jeff’s younger brother) and JaMarcus Shephard.

A freshman from Amarillo, Texas, King Doerue has emerged as Purdue’s leading tailback throughout the season. Averaging a shade under three-and-a-half yards per attempt, he has racked up 429 yards and five touchdowns on 125 carries.

Saturday’s action from Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette will kick at 12:00PM ET on ESPN2.
