Purdue has received a boost to its 2021 recruiting class.

Wednesday, three-star inside linebacker Tristan Cox verbally committed to the Boilermakers, becoming the fourth player in the 2021 class to pledge to Jeff Brohm’s squad. He is currently the only linebacker who has given a verbal commitment to Purdue. Cox made his announcement on Twitter.

“After much prayer and consideration, I have decided to commit to Purdue University,” Cox wrote on Twitter.

Cox is a 6-foot-3, 235-pound linebacker from Somerset, Kentucky. He received offers from seven other schools other than Purdue, including Kentucky, Cincinnati, Louisville, Marshall, Toledo, Vanderbilt and West Virginia.

According to 247Sports, Cox is ranked as one of the top 45 inside linebackers in the 2021 recruiting class and he is the No. 11 player out of the state of Kentucky. He’s the second out-of-state prospect to commit to the Boilers.

Purdue’s 2021 recruiting class currently ranks 11th in the B1G and 41st nationally.
