Purdue junior forward enters NCAA transfer portal
Purdue junior forward Aaron Wheeler has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal. Gold and Black Illustrated was one of many outlets to report on the news Tuesday afternoon.
Wheeler enters the portal following Purdue’s first round exit from the NCAA Tournament on Friday. The Boilermakers finished the year with an 18-10 record and No. 4 in the B1G standings. However, they lost their first game of both the B1G and NCAA tournaments.
Wheeler appeared in all 28 games for Purdue during the 2020-21 season, averaging 18.3 minutes per contest. He also averaged 3.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game.

The junior forward scored in double figures three times during the year, including a season-high 11 in Purdue’s 73-69 win over Wisconsin. Wheeler played just 10 minutes for the Boilermakers in the overtime loss to North Texas in the NCAA Tournament, scoring 2 points and grabbing a rebound in the loss.
With the NCAA granting an additional year of eligibility for all winter student-athletes, Wheeler will have two years of eligibility remaining. He appeared in 95 career games over three years in West Lafayette and posted a career average of 4.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.
