Purdue lands commitment from key in-state TE for 2023 recruiting class
Purdue is turning in a strong run on the 2023 recruiting trail, and the Boilermakers landed another in-state prospect on Friday.
This time, the pledge comes from George Burhenn out of Mt. Vernon High School in Mount Vernon, Indiana. Burhenn held other offers from Iowa, Iowa State, Michigan State and Rutgers when he announced his commitment.

Burhenn is listed at 6-foot-5 and 205 lbs. and is a 3-star prospect on the 247 Sports Composite Rankings. He also rates as the No. 43 TE nationally and No. 11 prospect out of Indiana for the 2023 cycle.

The commitment brings Purdue’s recruiting class up to 18 total commitments and is ranked 19th nationally by the team recruiting rankings. The Boilermakers have also been hard at work inside the home state with 6 of those commitments coming from Indiana products.
As things currently stand, Purdue holds the 5th overall recruiting class in the B1G. It will be interesting to see if the Boilermakers can hold that – or improve – over the summer.
