Purdue has added a sought-after JUCO transfer to its wide receiver room for 2024.

Leland Smith announced on National Signing Day that he has committed to play for the Boilermakers. He shared the big news on social media.

Smith heads to Purdue from Fullerton College. In 2023, he played in 9 games, recording 26 catches for 655 yards and 9 touchdowns. He averaged 25.2 yards per reception and 72.8 receiving yards per game.

Smith drew considerable interest after his strong showing. He picked up scholarship offers from 25 programs, including Cincinnati, Miami, Oregon State and Washington State. Purdue and Mississippi State got Smith on campus for recent visits, with the Boilermakers beating out the SEC’s MSU.

The Fullerton roster lists Smith’s measurements as 6-5, 205 pounds. He is rated 3-stars, the No. 3 player from Texas, No. 5 wide receiver and No. 14 JUCO prospect overall for 2024 on the 247Sports JUCO Composite.

Smith joins a large 2024 Purdue recruiting class. Ryan Walters’ staff has already signed 25 high school prospects and 15 players from the transfer portal. Fans can get a preview of what Smith brings to West Lafayette by checking out his 2023 highlights in the video below, via Hudl:
