Boilermaker quarterback Aidan O’Connell has a new receiver to throw to.

Elijah Canion, a former 3-star recruit and Auburn wideout, announced on Wednesday that he has committed to Purdue.

The move comes just a few weeks after putting his name into the transfer portal. A 6-foot-4 wideout originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Canion first signed with Auburn out of the 2020 class.

He appeared in just 2 games as a true freshman that season but had what was thought of at the time as a potential breakout moment in the Citrus Bowl against Northwestern—a 3-catch, 80-yard day that featured his first career touchdown.

But the next step didn’t quite materialize this past season with the Tigers. He appeared in just 4 games, finishing the season with 4 catches for 46 yards as he struggled to break into the wideout rotation during SEC play.

For Purdue, Canion can step in and hope a change of scenery can jumpstart his career. The Boilermakers will be looking for a new option with star wideout David Bell jumping to the NFL. He’ll have 4 years of eligibility
