Purdue linebacker OC Brothers announced he will be returning to the program for his 5th season in 2023.

Brothers announced his return to Purdue in a Twitter post on Thursday. Brothers will be using another year of eligibility at Purdue and will look to add to his time with the program.

The 2022 season was Brothers’ redshirt junior season. He will be heading into his 3rd season at Purdue. Before his time at Purdue, Brothers spent the 2019 and 2020 seasons at Auburn before he entered the transfer portal in December 2020.

In January 2021, Brothers officially joined Purdue’s program and he has been with Purdue for the last 2 seasons. In 2 seasons, he appeared in a total of 24 games. In 2022, Brothers recorded 42 total tackles, 1 sack, 3 pass deflections, and 1 fumble recovery.

In the Citrus Bowl loss to LSU, Brothers played an important role in Purdue’s defensive efforts. Brothers had 6 total tackles against LSU. All 6 of those tackles were solo tackles.

Through his 2 seasons at Purdue, Brothers recorded 54 total tackles, 1 sack, and 4 pass deflections. Brothers will be a valued member of Purdue’s defense in 2023. Brothers will be staying for Ryan Walters’ 1st season as Purdue’s head coach. Walters served as Illinois’ defensive coordinator until the end of the 2022 season.

Purdue went 8-6 in 2022.
