Two games into the season, it became known that arguably Purdue’s best defensive player — linebacker Markus Bailey — suffered a serious knee injury.

It was known then that Bailey would likely be out for the remainder of the year. Through two games, the linebacker registered 14 tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack.

Last season, when healthy, Bailey garnered 115 tackles and over the course of his career, he totaled 324 tackles as well as six interceptions. Again, Bailey has been incredibly productive for the Boilermakers.

On Thursday, following his surgery, he sent out a tweet with a photo of himself, his doctor and where his plans for the future lie:

Bailey had the surgery a week ago and all seems to be well. He noted in the tweet “#2020nfldraft” signifying that he will be done this season and is preparing for the upcoming NFL Draft.

Bailey is a redshirt senior for the Boilermakers.
