Purdue forward Mason Gillis and guard Ethan Morton have entered the transfer portal, according to multiple reports.

Gillis spent 4 seasons with the Boilermakers and was a key part of Purdue’s 2024 team that made it all the way to the national championship game.

Gillis averaged 6.5 points and 3.7 rebounds per game this season while shooting 46.8% from 3-point range. He was one of Purdue’s most-efficient scorers this season as he posted a true shooting percentage of 68.2%. He also posted a 7.1% offensive rebounding rate, which was the third-best mark amongst Purdue rotation players behind Zach Edey and Trey Kaufman-Renn.

At 6-foot-6 with elite shooting ability, Gillis figures to be a highly-recruited player in the portal for his final collegiate season. Gillis also has a ton of experience at the high-major level. He came off the bench for Purdue in 2023-24, but Gillis was a starter at times in each of his previous 3 seasons in West Lafayette. In total, he played 132 games for the Boilermakers.

Morton also reportedly entered the portal after his role on the team was limited to just 10 minutes per game in 2023-24.

Purdue will need to revamp much of its roster for the 2024-25 season. That was true before these departures were reported, as Zach Edey is expected to enter the 2024 NBA Draft. Lance Jones, another key player from Purdue’s 2024 team, is out of collegiate eligibility.

Kaufman-Renn, Braden Smith, Fletcher Loyer, Camren Heide and Caleb Furst are amongst the players expected to return to Purdue next season.
