Purdue (1-3) took No. 23 Boston College (3-1) to the woodshed to earn its first win of the 2018 season on Saturday afternoon, dumping the upstart ACC Atlantic squad 30-13 from Ross-Ade Stadium.

The Boilermakers defense was the main reason for the lopsided victory, holding BC to 229 yards of total offense while forcing opposing quarterback Anthony Brown to throw four interceptions.

For Purdue, its 17-point win is the program’s largest spread over a ranked team since beating No. 5 Michigan State 52-28 nearly 20 years ago:

Starting the season 0-3 isn’t ideal, but all three losses came by four points or less — and today’s impressive showing proves Purdue is a quality team with bowl aspirations still intact. Jeff Brohm’s Boilermakers will look to make it two in a row when they visit Nebraska (0-3) for their first road game of the season in Week 5.
