Purdue is looking to land an experienced guard from the transfer portal and Matt Painter’s team is still in consideration for a former Iowa State standout.

Monday, Tyrese Hunter released the list of the Top 6 programs he’s considering for his transfer destination. Purdue was still in the hunt, along with Gonzaga, Kansas, Louisville, Tennessee and Texas.

Hunter was a dynamic guard for the Cyclones a year ago, averaging 11 points, 4.9 assists and 3.5 rebounds per contest. He also proved to be an excellent defender, picking up 2 steals per game.

Purdue is coming off a season in which it was ranked in the Top 10 all season long and reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. The Boilermakers lost Jaden Ivey to the NBA Draft and guard Isaiah Thompson to transfer. The Boilers also lost sharp-shooting guard Sasha Stefanovic to eligibility and big man Trevion Williams to the NBA Draft.

The Boilermakers could use some experience and explosiveness at the guard position. Hunter has proven to be a do-it-all guard in his lone season at Iowa State.
