Purdue coach Jeff Brohm announced the hiring of new co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Brad Lambert on Friday afternoon.

Here’s the announcement:

“We’re very happy to have Brad join us,” Brohm said in a statement. “He is a veteran coach that has a long track record of working with some of the top defenses throughout his career. I look forward to our team getting to work with him.”

Lambert spent the last two seasons at Marshall and was the Thundering Herd’s defensive coordinator in 2020. Marshall went 15-8 overall 10-3 in conference games during Lambert’s tenure.

Marshall posted the No. 1 scoring defense in the country in 2020 at just 13 points allowed per game. The Thunder Herd finished No. 2 nationally in total defense, behind only Army (279.4 yards per game).

Lambert replaces Bob Diaco, who was fired after just one season. He’ll coach alongside co-defensive coordinator Anthony Poindexter, who is entering his fourth season at Purdue.
