Purdue made it official on Thursday, introducing former Auburn secondary coach Greg Brown as the new cornerbacks coach for the Boilermakers.

Brown, who spent the last two seasons at Auburn, will be entering his second stint at Purdue. He was the defensive backs coach in West Lafayette from 1989-90 under then-head coach Fred Akers.

“We’re excited to have Greg join us,” Jeff Brohm said in a statement. “He is a veteran coach with nearly 40 years of experience at both the collegiate and professional levels of football. Greg will be a great addition to our staff.”

Brown will look to improve Purdue’s play in the secondary in the 2019 season after an abysmal year last fall.

Purdue’s pass defense ranked last in the B1G and 128th nationally out of 130 teams in 2018, surrendering 284.7 yards per game. The Boilers only had 11 interceptions, tied for the second-lowest total in the conference.
