Based on this opening line, it does not look like Purdue will have to worry about a “trap game” in Week 2.

During Week 1, Jeff Brohm and the Boilermakers secured a win over Oregon State. Quarterback Jack Plummer threw for 2 touchdowns and the Purdue defense did enough to secure a win over Oregon State by a final score of 30-21.

In Week 2, Purdue will get a showdown with UConn who has not looked good, to say the least. The Huskies were blown out by Fresno State in Week 0 before also losing by double digits to Holy Cross in Week 1. That led to the announcement that head coach Randy Edsall will retire at the season’s end.

With all the turmoil around UConn early on, it is probably no surprise that the Boilermakers are huge favorites for Week 2. According to DraftKings, Purdue is favored -33 for the showdown. That is quite the spread.

Saturday’s contest will kickoff at 3 pm EST on the CBS Sports Network.
