Purdue has picked up another piece to the 2024 recruiting class, adding another defensive back prospect for the cycle.

This time, the pledge comes from Ty Hudkins, a 6-foot-1 and 180-pound safety out of Forest Hills Central High School in Grand Rapids. Hudkins held offers from Northwestern, Minnesota, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, Tulane and others.

“First off I would like to thank God for putting me in this position,” wrote Hudkins. “I’d like to thank my family, coaches, teammates, friends, and the whole entire FHC community for having my back during this journey. Lastly, I’d like to thank every coach that has recruited me during this process and especially the ones who took a chance on me.”

According to the 247 Sports Composite, Hudkins is rated as the 109th overall safety in the 2024 recruiting class. He’s also rated as the No. 20 player from Michigan.

Hudkins’ commitment gives Purdue 23 players in the cycle with 8 of those players listed as cornerback or safety. That group currently ranks 28th nationally per the 247 Sports Team Composite.
