Purdue quarterback David Blough will undergo surgery to repair a dislocated ankle he suffered in Saturday’s game against Illinois. Head coach Jeff Brohm delivered the update at his weekly press conference on Monday.

Late in the game against the Illini, Blough took two hits from defenders while hitting the ground. The junior gunslinger was unable to leave the field on his own power and had to be carted off the field. He left the stadium in an ambulance.

Big Ten Network captured the hit that knocked Blough out of the game.

As expected, Blough will be out for the season and will have a six-month recovery after the surgery. Following the game on Saturday, Brohm called the injury “fairly severe.”

Blough has thrown for 1,103 yards and nine touchdowns for the Boilermakers this season with just four interceptions. He’s also completed passes at a 65 percent clip this year.

With Blough out, sophomore Elijah Sindelar will be the primary signal-caller for the Boilermakers.
