A former 4-star prospect and Purdue running back has reportedly opted to head for the transfer portal over the summer.

According to Chris Hummer with 247 Sports, Sampson James has entered the transfer portal on Friday. Originally a 4-star recruit out of Avon, Indiana in 2019, James began his career at Indiana before transferring into the Boilermakers.

James rushed for 371 yards and 3 touchdowns for the Hoosiers across 2019-20 before entering the portal and landing at Purdue for 2021. He did not see action for the Boilermakers last season while sitting out after not obtaining an immediate eligibility waiver and rushed for 36 yards during this year’s spring game.

It will be interesting to see where James winds up next.
