Purdue is set to part ways with head coach Ryan Walters, according to a report.

That news was broken by ESPN’s Pete Thamel on Sunday afternoon. The decision comes following Purdue’s 66-0 loss to Indiana on Saturday.

Walters just finished his second season at the helm in West Lafayette. However, it was a lost season for the Boilermakers as they went 1-11 and did not win an FBS game this season.

Instead of giving Walters another season to turn things around, Purdue will look to move in a different direction just 2 years after hiring him to succeed Jeff Brohm.

Purdue immediately becomes arguably the top coaching job on the market. There are no other obvious openings coming in the SEC or the Big Ten. Purdue and North Carolina are currently the only power-conference programs who are expected to be looking for a new head coach this offseason.

Walters has a buyout of less than $10 million, per multiple reports. He went 5-19 overall in 2 seasons with the Boilermakers.
