Purdue reveals classic uniforms for the new era under Ryan Walters
Purdue is out with some classic uniforms ahead of the new era under Ryan Walters.
Boilermaker fans will remember this uniform style from the Joe Tiller era, and that’s something they would like to also replicate in the win-loss record, as Tiller was 87-62 at Purdue.
Walters is a different type of coach than Purdue typically hires. The Boilermakers typically hire offensive-minded coaches, and he’s the first defensive coach to lead the Boilermakers since Leon Burtnett in 1982.
Walters follows Jeff Brohm as a former high school quarterback and Illinois defensive coordinator who is well aware of the understands the school’s legacy, even when it comes to uniforms.
Walters was hired at age 36, and is now 37, and became the fourth-youngest coach in the Power 5 behind Kenny Dillingham (32-Arizona State), Kane Wommack (35-South Alabama) and Dan Lanning (36-Oregon) and 8th youngest in the FBS.
Purdue opens the season on Sept. 2 against Fresno State.
