Purdue’s 2023 schedule has a new opponent.

On Tuesday evening, The Fresno Bee reported that Purdue and Fresno State agreed to a matchup at Ross-Ade Stadium in 2023. The Bulldogs will travel to West Lafayette for a reported $1.3 million check.

It will be the first time the two teams have played each other on the gridiron.

Fresno State has played B1G competition recently, traveling to Minnesota last fall. This year, the Bulldogs will host the Golden Gophers, as the programs agreed to a home-and-home series. Fresno State finished the 2018 season 12-2.

The addition of Fresno State rounds out Purdue’s non-conference schedule for the 2023 season. In addition to hosting the Bulldogs in the season opener (Sept. 2), the Boilermakers will travel to Virginia Tech (Sept. 9) and return home to play Syracuse (Sept. 16).

Purdue finished the 2018 season with a 6-7 record, earning a trip to the Music City Bowl.
