Purdue has landed a key transfer piece to add to its offensive line.

Sione Finau, a former C-USA All-Freshman Team selection at Florida International, has committed to play for coach Jeff Brohm and the Boilermakers. Finau announced his decision on Twitter Tuesday.

With quarterback Aidan O’Connell returning for a 6th and final season and Purdue coming off an 8-4 season in which they challenged for the Big Ten West crown, the push is on to continue ascending as a team, and Finau will certainly help that cause.

The Texas native played in 7 games as a true freshman for the Panthers in 2019, making one start and aiding a line that only gave up 14 sacks in 13 games. A year later, he started each of FIU’s 5 games in the COVID-shortened 2020 season. He played in 9 games in 2021 before entering the portal.

Finau, a 6-foot-3, 300-pound offensive guard, could stay in West Lafayette for up to 2 seasons. He was a 3-star prospect coming out of high school.
