The Purdue Boilermakers secured a 30-21 victory over the Oregon State Beavers thanks to a 50-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jack Plummer to tight end Payne Durham. Plummer connected with Payne after a successful play-action pass that fooled the defense to crash down. This play-action call caused Payne to be wide-open for a quick release where he ran for the fifty-yard play with two minutes and nine seconds left in the game.

This play was the second touchdown play from the Boilermakers in the fourth quarter. The Boilermakers and the Beavers exchanged leads in the fourth quarter. Plummer finished the game with 313 yards and two touchdowns on 29 completions (out of 41 passing attempts). Durham caught receptions for 120 yards and two touchdowns.

This victory is the first-ever win for the Boilermakers over the Beavers, as the series is now tied 1-1. The Boilermakers (1-0) will travel to face the UConn Huskies (0-2) next Saturday, where Purdue will likely be huge favorites when kickoff starts.
