Purdue is losing a key veteran piece of the offensive line to the transfer portal.

With the portal officially opening on Monday, more and more players are expected to announce decisions across the country. This time, it is Spencer Holstege announcing his intentions on social media.

Holstege confirmed he will miss the bowl game while he investigates the portal:

“After much consideration and many prayers, I have decided to enter the transfer portal,” Holstege wrote. “Although I will miss the bowl game, I feel that this decision is what is best for my future going forward. I would like to thank my teammates, coaches and everyone associated with the football program. Thank you for your support. Boiler up.”

Holstege was the starting left guard for Purdue and has 32 career appearances with 31 starts under his belt. A 3-star prospect via the 2019 recruiting class, Holstege has a body of work that should generate plenty of interest in the portal.
