One member of Purdue’s special teams unit is on the move, revealing a transfer destination Sunday evening.

The player is Chris Van Eekeren, a kicker who primarily served the program on kickoffs. He will be heading to the AAC and playing for Temple at his next destination.

“First off I would like to thank my family for supporting me through it all,” wrote Van Eekeren. “I would like to thank Coach Chris Nendick for shaping me into the kicker I am today. Next I want to thank my teammates at Purdue University for always believing in me & being in my corner!…

“I have graduated from Purdue University with my undergraduate degree and decided to pursue my masters and athletic career elsewhere. Truly thankful to Purdue for all it had to offer!… I have decided to commit and continue my football career at Temple University on full scholarship!”

During the 2022 season, Van Eekeren had 62 kickoffs with 37 touchbacks. Across the 2021-2022 seasons, Van Eekeren finished with 55 touchbacks in 96 total kickoffs.
