Purdue TE Brycen Hopkins earns national honor after big performance against Maryland
Brycen Hopkins has received some national recognition after a huge game against Maryland on Saturday.
The Purdue tight end was named the John Mackey Award Tight End of the Week after totaling 10 catches for 140 yards in the Boilermakers’ 40-14 victory over the Terrapins. It was the highest output in a single game in his career.
Hopkins also received the honor after Purdue’s Week 1 loss to Nevada, accounting for 84 yards and a touchdown on six catches.

Saturday marked the third time in his career that Hopkins has tallied over 100 receiving yards in a game. He exceeded that clip twice in 2018.
This season, Hopkins has been an instrumental part of the offense for the Boilers. He’s caught 24 passes for 345 yards and three touchdowns for the year.
Purdue travels to Iowa to take on the Hawkeyes on Saturday.
