Purdue to honor late SID with special helmet decal during Music City Bowl
Purdue will be wearing a special helmet decal to honor late sports information director Matt Rector during the Music City Bowl. The former employee died unexpectedly on Nov. 16.
Hours before the Music City Bowl, Purdue made the announcement regarding its tribute to Rector. He was a 14-year employee at the university and worked with the football program daily.
Rector’s last name will be featured in the decal.
For today’s game, we will honor former SID Matt Rector, a long-time Purdue employee, who passed away unexpectedly on November 16.

Per the statement from Purdue, Rector retired from Purdue in September 2021.
Purdue will play Tennessee in the Music City Bowl on Thursday. Kickoff between the Boilermakers and Volunteers is set for 3 p.m. ET and the game will air on ESPN.
