After capturing both the regular-season and B1G Tournament titles, Purdue rolled into the NCAA Tournament as the No. 1 seed in the East Region. Unfortunately, the Boilermakers produced the wrong sort of history.

On Friday night, Fairleigh Dickinson dialed up a brilliant performance that included a stifling defensive effort. When it was all said and done, the Knights of the Northeast Conference toppled Purdue and head coach Matt Painter 63-58.

Zach Edey was impressive for the Boilermakers with 21 points and 15 rebounds but the rest of his supporting cast struggled in the loss. Braden Smith had 7 turnovers, Mason Gillis was 1-for-7 from 3-point range and the Boilermakers shot 5-for-26 from deep with 16 turnovers.
