This year’s draft class is loaded at pass rusher. Perhaps no league in the country is producing a better group of defensive ends this season than the B1G.

Former Purdue star George Karlaftis might just be the best, too.

Yes, names like Aidan Hutchinson, David Ojabo and Arnold Ebiketie come to mind immediately, but Karlaftis has been considered one of the best defensive ends all season long. One Pro Football Focus analyst doesn’t just believe the ex-Boilermaker is one of the top at his position from the B1G, but the country.

PFF’s Mike Renner said Karlaftis “is arguably the best power rusher in the draft class.”

Those who watched Karlaftis throughout the season understand how dominant he was on the field. While he didn’t put up the big numbers you might expect, he was often double- and triple-teamed by opposing offenses because of his impact.

Still, Karlaftis closed out his season with 41 tackles, 11.5 stops for loss, 5 sacks, 8 QB hurries, 3 forced fumbles and a scoop and score. He was a major part of Purdue’s success — finishing with a 9-4 record.

Karlaftis is expected to be a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
