Purdue’s second half got off to a hot start.

Trailing 21-10 at halftime, the Boilermakers needed a strong drive out of the gate. That’s exactly what they had. Purdue needed just 5 plays to drive 84 yards and get into the end zone to cut into Minnesota’s lead.

On the fifth play of the 3rd quarter, Jack Plummer launched the ball downfield and hit David Bell in stride. The result was a 47-yard touchdown, making the score 21-17.

That was Plummer’s first touchdown pass of the 2020 season. He got his first start of the year against Minnesota on Friday, stepping in for the injured Aidan O’Connell. Last year, Plummer started in 6 games and played in 9.

Bell is now up to 5 touchdown receptions for the season and has 12 for his career.

Purdue is 2-1 this season and Minnesota is 1-3.
