Purdue's Trevion Williams helps Team USA win FIBA U-19 world championship
The past few weeks have been really good to former and current Purdue basketball stars participating on a worldwide stage.
First Robbie Hummel helped Team USA win the gold medal in the FIBA 3×3 World Cup. On Sunday, current Boilermakers big man Trevion Williams helped USA win the FIBA U-19 world championship.
USA defeated Mali 93-79 to win the World Cup in the gold medal game. In the final game, Williams scored seven points, seven rebounds and two assists to aid the USA in the victory.
Williams was a solid performer for the team throughout the tournament. He averaged 8.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. He was the team’s second-leading rebounder throughout the tournament.
The 2019 gold medal victory in 2019 marks the seventh time the USA has won the FIBA U-19 World Cup.
