Report: Purdue RB, member of 2020 class, enters transfer portal
Freshman running back Tirek Murphy is reportedly entering the transfer portal after just one season in West Lafayette.
According to Tom Dienhart with BlackandGold.com, Murphy is entering the portal after not appearing in a game during his one season with the Boilermakers. Dienhart also indicated Murphy was arrested on a marijuana charge prior to the season opener.

Murphy was a highly rated recruit by the Composite Rankings at 247 Sports. The composite had Murphy as a four-star recruit as well as the No. 1 player out of New York and the No. 20 RB nationally for the 2020 class.
Coming out of high school, Murphy had offers from Arizona State, Baylor, Boston College, and Buffalo, among others
Purdue’s backfield should still be able to absorb Murphy’s absence heading into 2021. Leading rushers Alexander Horvath and King Doerue are expected to be back with the Boilermakers with Horvath putting up 746 yards from scrimmage in 2020. Hopefully Horvath is able to improve on those numbers with a strong year next season.
