Report: Purdue starting senior guard enters name into NCAA transfer portal
Another Purdue starter has put his name in the NCAA transfer portal.
On Tuesday, Gold and Black Illustrated reported that Nojel Eastern has entered his name in the database and will explore his options outside of West Lafayette. He’s the second starting player from Purdue’s 2019-20 squad to look for other opportunities, joining former Boilermaker center Matt Haarms.
Earlier this offseason, Haarms made the decision to transfer from Purdue to BYU after three seasons at Purdue.
Eastern is another surprising entry into the portal, as he had proven to be one of the leaders for the Boilers. While he wasn’t the most dominant offensive player on the floor, the guard was a B1G All-Defensive Team selection this year and did a solid job of locking down opponents.
Last year, Eastern averaged 4.9 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists per contest. In three seasons in West Lafayette, Eastern is averaging 5.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.
Eastern has appeared in 67 games for the Boilermakers over the last two years, making 62 starts. He’ll likely be a hot commodity on the transfer market.
