Down 10 points at half, it appeared that Illinois might be cruising to victory No. 8 at home against Purdue.

However, the Illini apparently did not come out in the second half prepared enough for what was to come. The Boilermakers came out guns blazing against No. 15 Illinois as they went on a 16-0 run to open the half and grab the lead.

At 10-0, people started to take note, including BTN’s Twitter account.

If you include Purdue scoring three unanswered points to close out the first half, the Boilermakers ended up on a 19-0 run. Once trailing by 10, Purdue found itself leading by six.

The lead eventually dissipated after Illinois broke its scoreless of nearly 5 minutes. The Illini went on to go on a 14-5 run of their own.

Basketball has always been a game of runs, especially in this one. Though the Boilermakers’ upset attempt may fall short, they certainly scared the Illini, who went into this game unbeaten on their home floor.
