The Boilermakers are dealing with some turmoil ahead of the season opener this Saturday.

Their football SID Matt Rector resigned on Monday ahead of Purdue’s game against Oregon State. This left the Oregon State media scrambling for game notes and information ahead of Saturday’s game.

John Canzano from The Oregonian provides more context:

Jeff Brohm is entering his 5th season with the Boilermakers; he is 19-25.

Last season the Boilermakers finished the season 6th in the B1G West with a record of 2-4 on the year. Their two wins came against Iowa and Illinois at the beginning of the season and then lost 4 straight to close out the year.

The Boilermakers also lost dynamic playmaker Rondale Moore to the NFL. The Arizona Cardinals drafted him in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft; he was the 49th pick overall.

This season the Boilermakers play 5 AP Top-25 teams. The Boilermakers open the season against the Oregon State Beavers this Saturday, Sept. 4.
