SportsCenter analysts highlight Purdue's big-play success vs. Michigan State
When then-No. 3 Michigan State made its way into Ross-Ade Stadium to take on Purdue last weekend the Spartans had a clear path to laying claim to a B1G title. But as the Boilermakers have done many times before, the underdog cut the knees favorite and came away with a 40-29 victory.
The upset was one of the biggest in college football this season, and the big plays made by the Purdue offense were key to the win.
Boilermakers quarterback Aiden O’Connell and wide receiver David Bell put on a show against the Spartans, and ESPN analyst Trevor Matich called out the pair for their play against the Spartans.

O’Connell completed 40-of-54 passing attempts and totaled an absurd 536 passing yards, including a 39-yard TD to Jackson Anthrop on a trick play that put Purdue ahead 21-7 in the second quarter. Bell caught 11 passes for 217 yards and a touchdown. The game was his 15th career 100-yard receiving game, which broke John Standeford’s Purdue record.
The Boilermakers will try and pull off another upset this weekend. Purdue heads to Columbus to take on No. 6 Ohio State on Saturday, Nov. 13 with a 2:30 PM kickoff scheduled.
