Drew Brees could potentially miss time after leaving Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers with a knee injury.

Brees started the game against San Francisco and played well early, completing 8 of 13 passes for 76 yards and a touchdown. He was also able to avoid being sacked, but he did take a hard hit on one play.

Brees was able to complete the first half but informed head coach Sean Payton he could not go to start the second half. After the game, Payton announced Brees will undergo an MRI with his status for next week’s game in question:

Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill split time under center as the Saints finished off the win. With the win, New Orleans moved to 7-2 and is in prime position for a trip to the playoffs.

Beyond that, Brees is in a back-and-forth battle with Tampa Bay QB Tom Brady for the top spot on the NFL’s all-time touchdowns list. All things considered, Brees has already cemented his eventual induction into the NFL Hall of Fame, but there’s no denying it would be awesome to see him lock in the record at the end of the season.

Hopefully the injury is nothing serious with Brees able to hit the field next Sunday.
