Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good. That was the case for Purdue tight end Brycen Hopkins, who just happened to be in the right place at the right time on a deep pass in the fourth quarter.
On a first down play early in the fourth quarter, David Blough fired a pass deep down the field in an attempt to pick up big yardage early in the drive. But the pass to his intended target was deflected and the play was over. Except Hopkins happened to be in exactly the right spot and was able to haul in the reception.
It netted the Boilermakers 74 yards.

Purdue scored on a seven-yard pass from Blough to Rondale Moore one play later.
After the reception, Hopkins had caught five passes for 136 yards and a touchdown in the game. But that play by the tight end may have been the biggest of the night.
