Purdue starting quarterback David Blough was carted off the field at Ross-Ade Stadium after suffering a vicious hit in the fourth quarter against Illinois.

Early in the final quarter, the Boilermakers were driving down the field, knocking on the door of the end zone. While running with the football, Blough was headed towards the ground when two Illinois defenders appeared to deliver hits to the head and shoulder areas.

While the hit to the upper body looked severe, it might’ve actually been a leg injury that kept Blough on the turf. Unable to leave on his own power, the Purdue quarterback had to be carted off the field.

Blough had completed 16-of-24 passes for 194 yards before being taken off the field. He also had 16 rushing yards on three attempts. Despite the injury, Blough was still fired up when he left the field, trying to get his teammates and the crowd pumped up.

Elijah Sindelar entered the game under center and was able to cap off the drive with a three-yard touchdown pass to Cole Herdman.

There was no report of the nature of Blough’s injury.
