Jeff Brohm is known for throwing in a few wrinkles to his offense now and then. He’s not afraid to try a trick play or two, or three…or four.

In Purdue’s season opener against Nevada on Friday night, Brohm reached into his bag of tricks, opting to run a flea flicker in the third quarter. The result was a fourth touchdown pass of the evening for Elijah Sindelar and the first college touchdown catch for freshman receiver David Bell.

It was run to perfection, allowing Bell to get wide open, catch the ball with nobody around him and walk into the end zone.

That touchdown toss gave the Boilermakers a 31-14 lead in the season opener on the road.

If Purdue continues to run trick plays that well, there’s no reason we won’t see plenty of more throughout the year.
