In today’s world of openly criticizing — and having an opinion on — everything, college football mascots haven’t managed to avoid the trend.
A recent poll conducted by Quality Logo Products, a promotional company, identified 128 mascots from schools with NCAA Division I football programs, asking a focus group of 1,266 people to rank them on a number of criteria.
Along with best, worst, sexiest, unsexiest and most offensive, was the “creepiest” category. The pick for the creepiest overall was deemed to be noneother than Purdue Pete himself.

While the Boilermaker mascot may be popular in West Lafayette, he doesn’t set well anywhere else. The Purdue mascot was also number two in the top ten of the “worst” college mascots, besting only Oklahoma State’s Pistol Pete. He also beat out fellow Big Ten school Penn State and its Nittany Lion.
