Zach Edey showed that he can play at a high level with consistency. Purdue beat Minnesota 89-70, but that wasn’t the main focus even though the Boilermakers opened B1G play with a win.

Edey finished the game with 31 points and 22 rebounds. The only other players to have a 30-20 game since 2010 in program history were Trevion Williams and Caleb Swanigan. Edey is now on that list after Sunday’s game.

Edey has proved time and time again that he can score the basketball and handle rebounding duties if needed. Purdue has relied on Edey when it needed him the most and he has delivered.

Through the first eight games of the year, Edey is averaging 22 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game. Edey has been a crucial player for Purdue so far.

Purdue is off to a great start so far at 8-0. The Boilermakers will face Hofstra Wednesday in West Lafayette before playing Nebraska on Dec. 10.
